Shalom, I’m Michelle Ting, a student from USMKK. NextGen23 is the second mission trip that I joined. It was indeed a memorable one because I got to see an abundance of new faces from NCLC and create memories with my teammates from 6 different campuses. Now, I hope you enjoy reading my testimony!
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. (Ephesians 6:11)
At first, I thought this mission trip was going to be fruitful, but I ended up feeling disappointed with myself as I thought I didn’t serve well as an assistant team leader. From the beginning till the end of NG, I was feeling sick and discouraged to join all the activities. I also kept myself dumb because I had no clue what I should do, and I was poor in speaking BM. Therefore, I concluded that I should cling tight on God as spiritual warfare is real. I should spend personal time with God and take fasting prayer more seriously to prepare myself for mission trip especially my heart to serve humbly and to love everyone including my teammates and the students in the school I was serving.
“He doesn’t call the equipped, He equip the called.”
However, as I recalled, all I can see is His Grace for me. I realized God called me to this mission trip was to train me to become a mature leader. I was actually given two chances to serve as an assistant team leader during NG. Even though I spoke very little, I had the opportunity to observe how the seniors or my own TL and ATL lead. The staff in my team also provided us useful advice and slowly I had the idea on how to lead a team when I serve in USMKK in the future. Thank God I was inspired to think outside the box. I would say this is hard, but I know God is my strength and my helper, so this journey is not about me working for God, but God is working with me.
Thank God I can feel that all the crews in NG have the heart to serve the students because they have a heart for God. So, this is my prayer, “Hallelujah, Your love is always the fuel to rekindle the fire in my heart to serve for You. Thank You for loving us first. Here I am, take me.”
